Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, striking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Questers and Planners tables.
Fans can anticipate learning which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
